Last updated: 28 July 2026

These terms and conditions set out the basis on which you may use our website, our facilities, and our services. Please read them carefully. By using our website, booking an activity, hiring a space, or becoming a member, you agree to be bound by them.

About us

Nova Consilia Centre is a not-for-profit community organisation based in Darlington, providing community facilities and mental health and wellbeing support.

Registered address Equinox House, Faverdale North, Darlington, DL3 0PH

Using our website

We provide this website free of charge. We try to keep the information on it accurate and up to date, but we do not guarantee that it is complete or error-free, and we may change or remove content at any time without notice.

You agree not to:

  • use the website in any way that is unlawful or fraudulent
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, its servers, or any connected system
  • introduce viruses or any other malicious code
  • copy, republish, or redistribute our content other than as set out below

We may suspend or withdraw the website at any time, and we will not be liable if it is unavailable for any period.

Intellectual property

Unless stated otherwise, all content on this website — including text, images, logos, and design — belongs to Nova Consilia Centre or is used under licence. You may view, download, and print content for your own personal, non-commercial use. Any other use requires our written permission.

Membership

Membership of Nova Consilia Centre is entirely voluntary. You do not need to be a member to use the centre. Membership exists to help raise the funds needed to keep the centre open, and to give members a few benefits in return.

Membership runs for 12 months from the date the centre opens. Current rates are:

Membership type Annual rate
18 years and above £12
65 years and above £6
Students of any age £6

Members receive priority booking for our events, advance notice of news before it is released publicly, and free entry into our monthly membership prize draws.

Membership is personal to you and cannot be transferred. Membership fees are non-refundable except where required by law. We may decline or withdraw membership where a member has breached these terms or our code of conduct, and we will explain our reasons if we do.

Classes, activities, and events

Bookings are subject to availability. Where payment is required, your place is confirmed once payment has been received.

We may need to cancel or reschedule a session — for example if an instructor is unwell or numbers are too low. If we cancel, we will offer you an alternative session or a full refund.

Taking part safely

Some of our activities are physical. It is your responsibility to make sure an activity is suitable for you, and to tell the session lead about any health condition, injury, or access need that may affect your participation. If you are unsure, please speak to your GP before taking part.

Our classes, activities, and wellbeing sessions are not a substitute for medical or professional care. If you are in crisis or need urgent help, please contact your GP, call NHS 111, or call 999 in an emergency.

Venue hire

Spaces at the centre are available to hire. Hire is subject to a separate hire agreement, which will set out the specific dates, times, rates, and any deposit required. Where there is any conflict between that agreement and these terms, the hire agreement takes precedence.

As a hirer, you are responsible for:

  • the conduct of everyone attending your booking
  • leaving the space in the condition you found it
  • any damage caused during your hire
  • holding appropriate insurance where your activity requires it
  • any licences your activity requires

Payments and refunds

Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable.

Where you have booked online as a consumer, you may have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. That right does not apply where you have asked us to start the service, or where the booking is for a specific date — such as an event or a venue hire slot.

Conduct at the centre

We want the centre to be a safe and welcoming place for everyone. We ask that you treat other visitors, staff, and volunteers with respect.

We may ask anyone to leave, and may refuse future access, where their behaviour is abusive, discriminatory, threatening, or puts others at risk. We take safeguarding seriously and will report concerns to the appropriate authorities where necessary.

Health, safety, and personal belongings

Please follow any safety instructions given by our staff and volunteers, and make yourself aware of fire exits.

Personal belongings are brought onto our premises at your own risk. We are not responsible for loss of or damage to personal property, except where caused by our negligence.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under English law.

Subject to that, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of profit, revenue, or opportunity, arising from your use of our website, facilities, or services.

If you are using our website or services as a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

Links to other websites

Our website may link to other sites. Those links are provided for convenience only — we have no control over their content and accept no responsibility for it.

We handle your personal information in line with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you use our website or services is the version that applies.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
